The 2011 Major League Soccer season is the 91st season of first division soccer in the United States and the current, 16th season of Major League Soccer. The season marked the arrival of two new league clubs, Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps FC, whose cities previously had clubs of similar name play in the USSF D2 Pro League. Each team will play a balanced schedule; playing every team twice: home and away. With the two new clubs being based on the west coast the league announced on January 28, 2011 that Houston Dynamo would move into the Eastern Conference.
Major League Soccer (MLS) is a professional soccer league based in the United States and sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation (U.S. Soccer). The league comprises 18 teams, 16 in the U.S. and two in Canada. MLS represents the top tier of the American and Canadian soccer pyramids.
